Background
Calling is a commercial call offering a product or service, not a usual contact with an administration or company with which we are already working. It now requires prior agreement in principle, with limited exceptions.
Why it's important
This may reduce commercial pressure and certain risks, but any unexpected call is not automatically illegal. Never communicate a bank code or data by phone, even if the contact person cites a known company.
What Changes
The company must have a legal basis for calling; generalisation without prior agreement is no longer the rule.
Useful details
- The rule concerns commercial start-up, not all appeals from an administration.
- In case of doubt, keep the number and time of the call and use an official consumer protection service.
- Ask for the company's name and call back the number published on its official website if the offer seems important.
