Step-by-step procedure
Section actions
- 1Blockel: free national registration to refuse commercial calls. Sign up on blocktel.gouv.fr. Companies must remove your number from their lists. Does not apply to existing partners.
- 2Allowed hours: Call start only 10 h– 13 h and 14 h– 20 h Monday to Saturday, prohibited Sundays and public holidays. Out of those hours — illegal.
- 3Prohibited products (since 2021): thermal insulation, windows, doors, water heater, heat pump, ventilation, energy audit. Home/telephone shutdown prohibited, only on request from the client.
- 4During a doorstep: the seller must present himself (name, company, product), deliver a document with price, conditions, right of withdrawal 14 days. No on-the-spot payments — cheques, cash prohibited immediately.
- 5Right of withdrawal: 14 days after signing a contract at home or online. Without explanation, send a recommended letter with AR. Refund within 14 days upon receipt.
- 6In case of a signature under pressure: if the seller has not informed the right of withdrawal — the period is extended to 12 months. Keep the contract and the evidence.
- 7Signal: SignalConso (signal.conso.gouv.fr) — for all offences. Fill out the form, describe the facts, attach the evidence. Free.
- 8Info Scam 3911: for the victims of fraud. Specialists point you to the DGCCRF or the police.
- 9Cancellation of the contract: send a registered letter with AR to the company with request for cancellation. In case of refusal — consumer mediator (free), then court.
- 10Check: Check the company on company.com, verif.com. If "society in formation" or suspicious activity — repeat caution.
- 11For non-French-speaking foreigners: be careful — crooks often target Russian-speaking people with "investments in France", "visas", etc. Don't sign without understanding.
Common mistakes
Section actions
- Sign a contract under pressure on the spot — difficult to cancel afterwards.
- Ignore the right of withdrawal 14 days — loss of right.
- Do not use Blockel — calls continue.
- Give your RIB or CB on site — risky.
- Do not report on SignalConso — others will fall into the trap.
