Import an animal to France (dog, cat)
For a dog or cat from a country outside the EU, the requirements depend on the country: identification, rabies vaccine and official health certificate. A titration and a three-month period may be added for countries at risk; the European passport is not always enough.
Piece and identification (I-CAD)
Mandatory chip identification; I-CAD file entry.
Vaccination and animal health
Obligatory anti-rabic; vaccination schedule with veterinarian.
Animal sterilisation
Recommended or mandatory according to common; veterinary clinic.
Veterinary and animal insurance
Optional mutual; RC often in home insurance.
Animals in housing and transport
In a residential lease constituting the principal residence, the tenant may in principle hold a pet, provided that he avoids damage and disturbance. Exceptions exist, especially for certain dangerous dogs and seasonal rentals. Each carrier shall determine its terms and conditions of travel.
