To be prepared in advance
Section actions
- Children's Health Book (Historic Vaccine)
- Vital card of the child (or yours)
- Go to doctor/pediatrician/PMI
Step-by-step procedure
Section actions
- 1Check the health book: the doctor/PMI registers the vaccines and on MesVaccins.net (digital).
- 2Mandatory 11 (since 2018): DTP, pertussis, BCG (risk areas only), hepatitis B, Hib, pneumococcal, meningococcal C, RRO. All must be done before entering the community (crèche, nursery school).
- 3Timing (approximative): 2 months — DTP+couchet+Hib+pneumo+hepatitis B; 4 and 11 months — reminders; 12 months — RRO + meningococcal C; 6 years — DTP recall; 11 – 13 years — pertussis + HPV.
- 4BCG: tuberculosis — recommended (and mandatory in risk areas) for children in risk groups; done at or later in maternity.
- 5Do the vaccines with doctor, pediatrician, PMI (free for children) or pharmacist (some).
- 6Reimbursement: Mandatory vaccines are supported by CPAM (100 % ALD/maternity, 65 to 80 % otherwise), mutual for the rest. PMI — free.
- 7Update the notebook and MesVaccins for the steps (crèche, school, trip).
- 8Delay/Refusal: The doctor can help catch up. Refusal of mandatory vaccines results in exclusion from the community.
Common mistakes
Section actions
- Missing reminders — unprotected child, problem with community.
- Do not have a health book — difficult to prove vaccines.
- Consolidate mandatory (11) and recommended vaccines.
- Believe BCG mandatory everywhere — only areas at risk.
- Do not use MyVaccins — loss of history.
