Background
This aid falls under the scheme of energy saving certificates: operators will finance the operations and process applications after the publication of the arrangements. At the time of this news, the amount and the list of operators are not yet announced.
Why it's important
The buyer must not consider the aid as a guarantee before checking the operator and all the vehicle criteria. In particular, the date of registration, motorization, price, weight and minimum duration of detention or rental must be checked.
What Changes
From 1 September 2026, the vehicle must be 100% electric, registered for the first time in France between 2017 and 2023 and purchased or rented from a qualified professional.
Useful details
- Hybrid vehicles are excluded; the battery must retain at least 80 % of its initial capacity or comply with the residual autonomy condition.
- The temporary increase applies in particular to vehicles with 25 000 € maximum and less than 1 800 kg; the request will be made from an EWC operator.
- Before signing, ask the seller which operator will process the application and what proof of the vehicle's criteria.
