- 1Identify the procedure. The naturalisation examination concerns only the acquisition by decree, not the declaration by marriage. The residence permit examination is intended only for the first issue of certain cards, not their renewal.
- 2Check the exceptions. For a first multi-year card or resident card, people over the age of 65 are exempted and not all categories of cards are covered.
- 3Prepare the official themes: principles and institutions of the Republic, rights and duties, history, geography, culture and life in French society.
- 4Register in a centre approved by the Ministry of the Interior. The maps of the centres are proposed by the CCI Paris Île-de-France and France Éducation international.
- 5The test is digital, has 40 QCM and lasts maximum 45 minutes. It takes 32 good answers, 80 %, to succeed.
- 6For naturalization, also prepare the interview in prefecture after the examination: he checks separately the assimilation and consistency of the file.
- 7In case of disability or health condition, ask for accommodation before the test; exemption is possible when the assessment is medically impossible.
