Who this guide is for

Section actions
  • You have a conflict with a real estate owner or agency
  • At work, we don't pay you, we break the contract or you're being harassed.
  • You have been subjected to discrimination or unjustified refusal

To be prepared in advance

Section actions
  • Lease, contract of employment, mails, e-mails, photos — everything that supports the facts
  • Short chronology: dates, locations, interlocutors
  • For a complaint of discrimination: facts, without emotion, from the first statement

Step-by-step procedure

Section actions
  1. 1Accommodation: The ADIL of your department advises you free of charge and can provide a model of mail.
  2. 2Labour: The Labour Inspectorate (DREETS) for unpaid wages, unfulfilled contracts or harassment. A union can come with you.
  3. 3Discrimination: Defender of rights — online or in the House of Justice and Law; free.
  4. 4Social assistance or mediation: CCAS of the town hall — orientation if you are in difficulty.
  5. 5Consumer disputes : section Consumer rights and signal.conso.gouv.fr.
  6. 6Immediate danger: 17 or 112 — this is not an administrative claim.

Common mistakes

Section actions
  • Go to court without mediation or written notice — you often waste time and money.
  • Do not keep written marks — without written evidence, it is more difficult to defend.
  • Pay an anonymous "advisor" instead of the ADIL or the Defender of Rights for a free first opinion.
